Our story

DutchCottageCo is the family vacation rental collection of Bas and Kat de Laat — a verified, natural-born Dutchman and a U.S. Army brat raised all over the world, raising three kids of their own and quietly building a portfolio of homes designed for the way real families travel.

It started with one cottage on 30A in 2018. Kat picked the street. Bas picked up the keys. A second home followed when the demand for somewhere that sleeps the whole extended family — comfortably, with a private pool and the chef's kitchen to match — outgrew the first.

Every property in the collection is owner-operated. No call centers. No anonymous corporate management. Bas and Kat answer the inquiries, work with the same trusted cleaners and handymen, and stock each home the way they'd want a rental stocked for their own family.
